“We’re here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?”

Steve Jobs

A huge wave of discussion was prompted in August by Jobs announcing his resignation which was a bit of confirmation that he has lived up to his words here having made a bit of an impact on the world. He no doubt had a lot of help from good teams along the way but the intention to make an impact must have come from him.

I admire those who step up to be counted in the world. If they lead changes which take humanity to a better future then to me that is something that is worth acknowledging. Some leaders are good at addressing challenges and issues head-on in the simplest of ways achieving phenomenal results. Clarity of vision and a definiteness of purpose are admirable qualities in my view.

But I wonder …. is making an impact on the world something that we should all strive to achieve in whatever small or big way that we can?

Can you make a difference in the world? Should you even try? Is it up to us to change the things that we don’t like or should we leave it up to someone else?

If you think that you should and you can – who do you get to help you?
